Vision Statement:
The Oregon Fire Service enjoys increased health, wellness, and safety for first responders and their families.
Mission Statement:
The Association accomplishes their vision as a Section of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association through: leadership, education, communication, motivation, and assessment.
Goal 1 – Provide leadership of the Section with focus on sustainability.
Objectives:
- At least 50% statewide active membership participation in OSHS
- Areas of concentration include Responder Safety and Health & Wellness
- Review makeup of the OSHS Board to ensure it is reflective of the membership
- Provide timely and effective communication methods to section members and partners.
- Provide timely and effective communication with the OFCA Board,
- Identify existing and potential revenue sources.
- Provide resources for incident safety, risk management, and health and wellness.
- Align and collaborate with state and national fire service and public safety organizations
Goal 2 – Deliver a Health and Wellness program that improves the lives of first responders and their families.
Objectives: Provide tools and resources for the following wellness initiatives:
- Fitness
- Wellness
- Medical Assessment
- Navigating Workers Compensation
- Mental Health
- Nutrition
- Disease Management
Goal 3 – Deliver Responder Safety protocols that improve the lives of first responders and their families.
Objectives: Provide tools and resources for the following incident safety initiatives:
- Fire, EMS, HAZMAT, Technical Rescue
- Regional Fire Operations Groups – Fire Rescue Protocols
- Evolve into statewide best practices
- Workplace safety
Goal 4 – Deliver Risk Management practices that improve the lives of first responders and their families.
Objectives: Provide tools and resources for the following Risk Management initiatives:
- Risk Assessments
- Return to work programs
- Peer support programs
- Accident Prevention programs
- Regional Safety Associations
- Possibly with OFIA Regional’s
- Centralized state and national safety and wellness data
- Injury statistics
